Last week, a bull shark bit a 13-year-old girl multiple times while she was sitting in the ocean with a friend near her home in South Florida. Ella Reed sustained injuries to her stomach, arm, and leg and had to receive stitches as a result of the attack that occurred at Fort Pierce Inlet State Park in St.
The county of Lucie.
Reed informed WPTV that the assault occurred in the vicinity of the shore where the waves are not deep.
The teenager displayed a wound on her stomach that had been stitched up and stated to the media that if the shark had bitten harder, the injury would have been much worse.
After a shark attack in South Australia, fragments of a wetsuit and surfboard were discovered. The witness recounted the incident where she observed a shark, estimated to be four feet in length, swim by her friend and assault her.
She explained that the object passed beneath her and directly hit her stomach, and she attempted to shield herself with her arm and hand. However, it managed to slip through and hit her finger and arm. It then circled back and hit her leg once more.
Reed stated that she did not feel much pain initially due to the rush of adrenaline. She was taken aback and quickly got out of the water to inform her mother.
Devin Reed, the mother of the teenager, stated that at first she believed it was a joke.
After her parents became aware that it was not a joke, they escorted her to a nearby St. location.
Fire station located in Lucie County.
The firefighters quickly transported her to the hospital.
Devin mentioned that her family has resided in the North Hutchinson Island Community for over two decades, and they have never had any worries regarding a shark attack.
A British expatriate was fatally attacked by a 15-foot great white shark, which was classified as a provoked incident. Devin, who witnessed the attack, stated that it was a frightening experience, but Ella's presence and safety helped calm him down. Despite the scary incident, Ella plans to return to the water once her stitches are removed. The Fox News app provides more information on the incident.
She expressed that she now has a greater appreciation for the ocean and its inhabitants.
