A woman from California is about to be charged with her fourth DUI offense as she was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol while at a Taco Bell and declined to exit the drive-thru lane.
According to KGET-TV, Demetra Bailey, aged 39, denied being guilty of two DUI felonies and resisting arrest. Court records indicate that she was intoxicated while driving through a Taco Bell drive-thru in Bakersfield, California, in January.
After being notified of reports that a driver seemed intoxicated and was refusing to leave the drive-thru lane, the authorities arrived on the scene.
Upon the arrival of a police officer who turned on his emergency lights, Bailey, who has been convicted of DUI three times before, is accused of reversing her car to leave the drive-thru lane.
Instead, her vehicle drove onto the curb. A Wisconsin deputy was shot while attending to a DUI suspect who had driven into a ditch. Bailey's car apparently got stuck on the curb, causing her to leave the car and run away from the officers for a brief period. According to court records, Bailey was driving with a suspended or revoked license.
