The U.S. plans to relocate may be put on hold by the Biden administration.
The headquarters of Space Command is being relocated from Colorado to Alabama due to the latter's strict abortion laws. This decision has been made by the United States government.
According to officials, possibly including someone in the defense department, the White House may be preparing to stop the plans due to concerns about "abortion politics." This announcement came shortly before former President Trump left office, after a heated lobbying campaign.
The Space Command is planned to have its headquarters in Huntsville, Alabama, which will involve a costly and lengthy relocation from its current base in Colorado Springs. A review by the Biden Defense Department's inspector general deemed the move to be legal and sensible. However, the Biden administration has requested a further review due to worries that the relocation could cause significant delays in establishing the Space Command in its new location. NASA's Perseverance Mars Rover has also captured images that suggest the existence of a wild river.
The evaluation occurred after Alabama passed a law prohibiting abortion without exceptions for rape or incest. The administration previously indicated a desire to relocate the Space Command's headquarters to Colorado Springs, but may now be reconsidering. It is unclear if the decision regarding the abortion law influenced the ongoing review. Fox News Digital has contacted Space Command and the White House for further information. VAST, a startup in Southern California, has announced plans to launch the world's first commercial space station.
Doug Lamborn, a representative from Colorado, which encompasses the present Space Command headquarters, emphasized that the permanent location of the U.S. should be determined solely based on national security concerns.
According to Lamborn, Space Command is almost fully operational in Building 1 at Peterson SFB and will achieve full operational capability four to six years earlier if it remains in its current location.
The most important consideration for making this decision should be achieving FOC, as China and Russia present significant threats.
I endorse attempts to overturn the previous ruling made on the basis of national security, for the benefit of our country. Click the link to access the Fox News application.
Tommy Tuberville, a Republican from Alabama, claimed that the Biden administration is politicizing the location of Space Command and harming our preparedness. He stated that various impartial government reviews have concluded that Huntsville would be the ideal location for Space Command headquarters. This report was supplemented by Brooke Singman from Fox News.
