The champion of the Kentucky Derby will participate in the Preakness race, and is excited to visit Baltimore and try their famous crab cakes.
On May 20th, supporters of horse racing will have the opportunity to cheer for a horse that could potentially win the Triple Crown at the Preakness. Mage, who won the 149th Kentucky Derby, will participate in the Preakness after performing well during a workout session at Churchill Downs.
Ramiro Restrepo, who co-owns Mage with Chase Chamberlin, stated that the horse is doing very well and had a successful 1.5-mile run on the track on Friday morning. Restrepo also mentioned that Mage has had an excellent week of training, along with Chamberlin, who is a co-founder and racing director of partner CMNWLTH. This news comes after reports that Kentucky Derby favorite Forte failed a drug test in September.
Trainer Gustavo Delgado Jr. expressed great satisfaction and excitement about the progress that has been made.
He has displayed all the indications of positivity.
Next stop is Baltimore for some delicious crab cakes. Mage, who had 15-1 odds, won the Kentucky Derby in a tight race. Two Phil's was leading by a length in the final stretch, with a group of horses following closely behind. However, Mage managed to move to the front of the pack and overtake Two Phil's, winning the race by a length. For additional sports coverage, click the link provided on Fox News.
After a training session on Saturday, Mage will be taken to Baltimore with Javier Castellano as the jockey. Restrepo mentioned that they have been closely observing the situation due to the affection Mage has shown them during races.
We are attempting to grant him that opportunity and allow him to demonstrate his abilities and accomplishments before the Derby.
The consistency shown by the horse throughout has earned it a chance to participate in the Preakness, as there has not been a Triple Crown winner since Justify in 2018. This report was contributed to by Ryan Morik from Fox News and The Associated Press.
