The extradition of Joran van der Sloot to the United States in relation to the Natalee Holloway case may happen soon.
During a television interview on Friday, Peru's ambassador to the United States stated that Joran van der Sloot, who is the main suspect in the disappearance of Alabama student Natalee Holloway in 2005, may soon be extradited.
Late on Wednesday, Peruvian authorities declared that van der Sloot will be provisionally sent to the United States to confront accusations of extortion and wire fraud.
At present, he is incarcerated in a prison in Peru where he received a 28-year sentence for killing Stephany Flores, a 21-year-old woman, in a hotel room in Lima.
On Friday, Gustavo Meza-Cuadra, the Ambassador of Peru in the United States, stated to ABC News that they are making efforts to extradite van der Sloot as quickly as they can.
According to George Patriot Seymore, who speaks on behalf of Beth Holloway, the mother of Natalee Holloway, some aspects of the process are being improved. Seymore informed Fox News Digital that the extradition will take place in a week.
Former FBI profiler Seymore expressed surprise that it took a considerable amount of time for the suspect in the Holloway case to be prosecuted in the US, stating that it should have only taken a few days to a week.
The procedure has started. Van der Sloot was charged in 2010 in the US for extortion and wire fraud when he supposedly attempted to sell information about the whereabouts of Natalee Holloway's remains.
He requested a sum of $250,000, with an initial payment of $25,000 for the information. The remaining amount would be paid once Natalee Holloway's remains were confirmed in Aruba, where she disappeared.
The prosecutors claim that they are making efforts to extradite van der Sloot at the earliest possible time, as they accuse him of being the mastermind behind John Q's actions.
The family's attorney, Kelly, went to a location where it was said that Holloway's remains were found.
According to the indictment in July 2010, prosecutors claimed that Van der Sloot provided false information about where the remains were located.
Van der Sloot admitted to murdering Flores in January 2012, and Natalee Holloway was officially declared deceased during the same month.
The body of Holloway was never discovered.
The Justice Minister of Peru, Daniel Maurate, informed the media that Joran van der Sloot, the suspect in the death of Natalee Holloway, will be sent to an American prison to serve his sentence after completing his term in Peru, provided he is found guilty in the United States.
Regarding Mr.
(Joran) van der Sloot has temporarily moved to the United States as he has been convicted here and is required to serve his sentence in this country.
However, as for the United States
The authorities informed us that the case against him might be dismissed if he doesn't arrive soon as the elderly witnesses require his presence to face trial.
We are providing support so that he can be taken to that place for trial and punishment, and then return to Peru to serve his sentence.
After completing his term in Peru, he will travel to the United States.
Maurate stated that he should fulfill his appropriate punishment in that place.
We will implement all necessary security measures to prevent this individual from escaping.
We have faith in the American authorities.
Maurate believes that there are effective methods in place to prevent the individual from fleeing within the United States.
Beth, the mother of Natalee Holloway, expressed in a statement on Wednesday that justice is finally being delivered.
According to Beth Holloway, the suspect in Natalee Holloway's case, Joran van der Sloot, will be sent to the United States. She also mentioned that she feels fortunate to have had Natalee in her life for 18 years, but it has been exactly 18 years since she has been without her.
At present, she would have reached the age of 36.
The journey has been arduous and distressing, but the determination of numerous individuals will ultimately yield positive results.
Beth Holloway expressed that justice for Natalee is being achieved as a collective effort.
Beth Holloway expressed gratitude towards those involved in the extradition process and also mentioned that if Joran van der Sloot had not arrived earlier, the case against him could have been dismissed due to the advanced age of the witnesses.
The legal office located in Birmingham, United States.
John Q, my attorney for a long time, has connections with both the Peruvian Embassy in the U.S. and the U.S. Embassy in Peru.
Beth Holloway expressed her gratitude towards Kelly, who has put in a lot of effort in this case, as well as George Seymore and Marc Wachtenheim from Patriot Strategies. The report was also contributed to by Michael Ruiz and Louis Casiano from Reuters and Fox News.
