A dentist from Massachusetts has been sentenced to two years in prison for a scheme of embezzlement that involved millions of dollars.
According to federal prosecutors, a dentist from Massachusetts has been sentenced to two years in prison for stealing over $1.2 million from his employer and fraudulently acquiring $50,000 in pandemic relief funds.
A Ghanaian citizen has been accused of stealing $2.4 million from the Wisconsin GOP and has pleaded not guilty. Jack Massarsky, who is 65 years old, allegedly embezzled money from his employer based in Cape Cod from 2015 to 2021. He did this by intercepting insurance reimbursement checks that were sent to the practice and depositing them into a secret bank account that he opened in the practice's name. The U.S. authorities are investigating the matter.
The Boston-based legal firm's office stated.
According to officials, he utilized the funds for his own and his family's expenditures.
According to prosecutors, he deceitfully applied for pandemic relief funds from the federal Health Resources and Services Administration Provider Relief Fund in the name of his practice in 2020. As a result, he received over $52,000 in economic assistance that was meant for eligible healthcare providers.
The undisclosed bank account also received a deposit of that money.
The individual who owns a chain of rehabilitation centers has been apprehended for committing healthcare fraud. Along with being incarcerated, Massarsky has also been given a three-year probationary period.
He had made restitution payments before being sentenced.
