A pickup truck that swerved at a school bus stop in Wisconsin resulted in the death of a child.
According to authorities, a pickup truck that did not slow down in time hit and killed a middle-school student who was waiting to board a school bus in Wisconsin on Friday.
At approximately 7:20 a.m, the Sauk County Sheriff's Office reported that a student from Webb Middle School in Reedsburg had sustained fatal injuries.
The location is in the Town of Excelsior, which is situated to the northwest of Madison, and can be found along Highway 23/33.
According to the police, a group of teenagers wearing masks attacked a school bus and fired three shots at a 14-year-old's head. They also hit him with a pistol after the gun failed to fire. The incident occurred when the bus stopped to pick up the student on the north side of the highway, and a pickup truck driver failed to slow down and hit the bus, causing the student's death at the scene.
According to the sheriff's department, the pickup truck came to a stop in a ditch located on the side of the road.
A 7th grade student in Michigan successfully brought a school bus to a safe stop when the driver passed out. Fortunately, no one on the bus was harmed, but the driver of the pickup truck involved in the incident sustained minor injuries according to authorities.
The driver of the pickup and the student involved in the incident have not been identified yet, and the student's family is currently being informed.
The Superintendent, Roger Rindo, notified the school's parents about the passing of a student and expressed his condolences, stating that it was a very difficult time for the entire community. This information was reported by WISC-TV.
