A Texas town on the Gulf Coast was hit by an EF-1 tornado, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to several others. The National Weather Service's Brownsville office reported that the tornado had wind speeds ranging from 86 to 105 miles per hour and hit Laguna Heights at 4:01 a.m. on Saturday.

The Pharr District Texas Department of Transportation later tweeted that one eastbound and one westbound lane of Highway 100 had reopened to traffic between Laguna Heights and Highway 48.
The Port Isabel Event & Cultural Center is available as a shelter and is being supported by the Salvation Army, Red Cross, and Cameron County Emergency Management to provide assistance to those in need.
Port Isabel announced that a triage center for individuals with minor injuries would be established by the Valley Regional Medical Center. The report also stated that there was one confirmed death and ten individuals had been transported, while search and rescue efforts were still ongoing.
The statement mentioned that information will be shared as soon as it is obtainable. It also pointed out that this was the fourth occurrence of severe weather in the Laguna Madrea region within the past four weeks.
